The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago is set to unveil a renovation from local firm the Gettys Group this spring with a design that channels Chicago’s vibrant culture and the atmospheric impact of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.
The multifunctional lobby will feature spaces for meeting, coworking, or socializing, and will be defined by a convivial flair that stretches outside to an attached patio. A custom wine table will be installed alongside sophisticated décor and luxe materials. Hotel corridors will be characterized by a palette of black and white offset by menswear-inspired details that range from feather-shaped brass light fixtures to floral shades. The 191 guestrooms and 22 suites will undergo facelifts that include high ceilings, tufted headboards, and large bay windows that frame the property’s iconic water views.
Three meeting rooms will span a combined 4,100 square feet, with the 2,700-square-foot Paris Room equipped to accommodate up to 190 people within a setting designed by Susan Caruso. The 70-person Athens Room will be wrapped with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the Chicago River, while the 487-square-foot Tokyo Room will host more intimate gatherings with 30 seats.
