Ovolo the Valley has unveiled its latest eatery in the Fortitude Valley of Brisbane, Australia.
Inspired by Tel Aviv’s food culture, Za Za Ta is conceived with an eclectic style by Australian design firm Luchetti Krelle. Reminiscent of a Victorian-era conservatory, the space reinterprets traditional Queenslander architecture, and combines modern colonial flair with Middle Eastern cultural references.
Visitors are greeted by the Parlour, which evokes the stately aesthetic of the cocktail venues during the 1940s. Located adjacent to it is the Harem, a plush room with rattan seating and polished nickel tables. The chef’s table sits at the center of the 242-seat restaurant, flanked by pantry walls. The open kitchen is punctuated by traditional plate racks, copper pans, and a large beech wood fire oven.
The Library, a lounge and event space at Za Za Ta, is located at the rear of the eatery, wrapped with cayenne-colored velvet banquettes, Persian patterned-carpeting, and midcentury-style teak furniture.
Trellis paneling lines the ceilings of the onsite Conservatory, which features a tessellated Victorian pattern flooring. Blush and rust tones serve as a backdrop for the central communal table, while the Games room acts as the restaurant’s breakout space. In addition, the Grand Hall area is partitioned with an operable wall and includes a tropical mural, steel blue velvet drapes, and bespoke doors.
