DesignLSM has unveiled its designs for the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Kingston-upon-Thames in England. The Hoke, UK-based firm was tasked with conceiving the hotel’s public spaces, including the lobby, reception, and onsite restaurant.
The design team drew upon Kingston’s history of aviation for the design, punctuating the warm and contemporary environment with subtle notes of aircraft paraphernalia. Featuring individual and communal seating, the space is illuminated with a 32-foot-long bar made from copper, which seamlessly blends the lounge and the restaurant.
Named for Kingston’s pioneering pilot Harry Hawker, the Hawkers Bar & Brasserie is appointed with leather seating, ambient lighting, and ornate floor tiles. A warm copper, teal, and soft gray palette evokes elegance with the help of low-level mirror screens and exposed industrial ceilings. The brasserie also features chef’s table as well as bespoke glass doors and an enclosed terrace for al fresco dining.
