The first concept of its kind in North America, the construction of the Ambiente, A Landscape Hotel, has kicked off in Sedona, Arizona. Slated for completion by December 2020, the project will be located around the natural vegetation and topography, and blend with its surroundings seamlessly.
With a design spearheaded by Scottsdale-based ASUL Architects, the retreat will feature a two-story lobby compromising glass and metal, which will house the property’s guest lounge, meeting rooms, and offices, as well as a soothing waterfall filling the onsite pond.
Each of the scenic property’s 40 accommodations, known as the atriums, will be elevated above the earth by steel piers and feature a composition of floor-to-ceiling bronze glass, while their interiors will aim to evoke a minimalist aesthetic accented by vibrant colors, fabrics, and luxe details like a double-sided fireplace installed above platform beds. Fifteen of the 40 atriums will also be equipped with private rooftop decks accessible by stairs.
With an emphasis on sustainability and organic architecture, the concept will further complement the surrounding topography with a landscape design executed by the in-house Krizan Associates team. A lagoon-inspired pool and spa will anchor the retreat’s campus, while an open-air poolside lounge will host an indoor-outdoor bar, as well as a panoramic sundeck.
