Boutique hotel brand Amberlair has wrapped its first reward-based crowdfunding campaign via Indiegogo. The company more than reached its initial goal of nearly $17,000 and has expanded the campaign to $59,000 to convert an estate of farmhouses into a 60-room hotel resort in Puglia, Italy by 2020.
“The villa was the summer residence of a noble Italian family in the early 20th century. They had great taste—it’s a beautiful and peaceful setting,” says Amberlair cofounder Marcus Orbé. “It has been left abandoned for over 70 years, but still remains unspoilt and in excellent condition. During World War II, the villa was used by the U.S. military as a place of shelter. They even built their own American Bar, which still exists.”
The project would include the development of 30 hotel suites in the main villa, as well as the creation of additional accommodations in surrounding farmhouses and towers. Along with 10 cave and spa rooms, a separate spa facility, swimming pools, and 10 luxury tents will be included.
