New York-based firm Rockwell Group will design the Hospitality Design Social Hub booth at HD Expo 2017, held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas from May 3rd – 5th. Inspired by the retro appeal of a 1980s high school cafeteria, the multifunctional space will be equipped with a bar, mini theater, and stage to host ongoing talks from the industry’s leaders and rising stars.
The 1,200-square-foot space will feature a color palette of pink, teal, and gold and several elements such as a laser-cut plywood art screen, resilient chevron-patterned floor tiles, upholstered poufs, coffee tables, high-top tables, and a waterfall bar complete with a metallic bar front and contemporary stools. Social hub sponsors include Artline, Sunbrella, Ego Paris, Astek Wallcovering, Aceray, Shaw Hospitality, and Cambria.
“We wanted to create a cool space where people were drawn to hang out and engage each other,” says Stacy Shoemaker Rauen, editor in chief for Hospitality Design. “Rockwell Group went above and beyond to craft something that is casually surprising while supporting a variety of functions.”
The Social Hub will host informal sessions including the Business of Design, during which leaders will discuss hiring practices, winning projects, and more. The Social Hub will also welcome back NEWH’s Green Voice Discussions.
