Valencia firm Masquespacio drew inspiration from the industrial aesthetic of storefronts in Tokyo’s Kabukicho, Omoide Yokocho, and Hajimeya districts for Hikari Yakitori Bar.
The open kitchen and signage mirror the neon grit of some of Tokyo’s alleyway eateries, while wood used throughout softens the monochromatic color palette of gray and rust.
Light fixtures include classic lanterns as well as methacrylate features with metal holders and custom LED strips that resemble neon signs found in Tokyo.
An industrial blend of materials characterizes the dining room, including custom metal grid partitions and benches and tables crafted from wood and brick.
The dining room’s central trolley, reminiscent of Japanese street yakitori carts, anchors the space and helps during service.
