The Coachman Hotel in South Lake Tahoe has completed work on a series of green initiatives as part of its recent renovations. Spearheaded by locally based contractor Sierra Sustainable Builders and Brooklyn, New York-based design firm Studio Tack, the renovation included the implementation of effective indoor-outdoor space and the use of sustainable, locally sourced materials and furniture.
Originally constructed in the 1960s to accommodate tourists following the 1960 Winter Olympics, the property has been updated with environmental and power updates to establish additional efficiencies and conveniences. New measures such as LED lighting, water filling stations, and stormwater management have lowered the hotel’s energy usage, and two electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in the parking lot.
