Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has debuted the Element brand in the Asia Pacific region with the opening of Element Suzhou Science and Technology Town in China, owned by Suzhou Science and Technology Town Kexin Cultural Tourism Development Co.
“We are thrilled to introduce Starwood’s first Element Hotel in Asia Pacific, in China,” says Stephen Ho, president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific. “Recent studies have shown that consumers are becoming increasingly interested in environmentally friendly practices and products, as well as sustainable living. We are confident that the sustainable Element brand ethos that modern design flows from nature will resonate with travelers and meet that demand.”
Located half an hour by speed train from Shanghai in Suzhou, the 188-room property is within the city’s Science and Technology Town—an eco-city in the Suzhou National New & Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone.
“As Starwood’s eco-innovation lab, the Element brand has redefined the category with its light-filled atmosphere, eco-minded design and commitment to innovation,” says Brian McGuinness, Starwood’s senior vice president of specialty select brands. “On track to triple its global portfolio by the end of 2017, Element is experiencing tremendous growth momentum and the brand’s debut in the Asia Pacific is set to pave the way for more growth opportunities in the region.”
Modern guestrooms feature oversized windows for natural light, a well-equipped energy-efficient kitchen, spa-inspired baths, and separate rain showers. A natural color palette lends an organic openness that is part of the brand’s identity.
Each room features a workspace and high-tech office and entertainment equipment. The property uses a mobile, keyless entry system allowing guests to use their smartphone as a key.
Additional amenities include 3,937 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, an indoor saline swimming pool, and complimentary rental bikes.
