Construction has started for First Light Hospitality’s Rush Creek Lodge—Yosemite National Park’s first new lodging option in more than 25 years.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to create a destination lodging experience that gives everyone the chance to enjoy Yosemite in a fresh, new way,” says Lee Zimmerman, the lodge’s co-owner. “We’re excited for visitors to discover this one-of-a-kind destination within a destination as a remarkable place to explore, relax, have fun, and reconnect with self, loved ones, and nature.”
The 143-room contemporary mountain resort, located three hours away from San Francisco in Yosemite, California, is a sister to the park’s other property, the Evergreen Lodge, and continues its mission of adhering to the guidelines of a certified B corporation to meet sustainability and environmental performance standards.
A water reuse program and commercial greywater system will be enforced onsite in addition to using energy provided by nearby solar panels. Electric vehicle charging stations will also be available to guests.
Built using natural and raw materials, the hillside resort will house 143 rooms, suites, and two-bedroom villas all set on a 20-acre property. An onsite restaurant and tavern will serve California lodge cuisine.
The Rush Creek Lodge is slated to open in the spring of 2016.
