HD Platinum Circle 2016 honoree chef Tom Colicchio’s Crafted Hospitality has launched its latest eatery, Fowler & Wells, in newly restored Manhattan hotel the Beekman. The name draws inspiration from the site’s original occupant from 1840, the Fowler & Wells Phrenological Cabinet.
London- and New York-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio has crafted the 88-seat restaurant with a distinctly downtown aesthetic. Exposed red bricks and industrial piping offset more luxurious touches like multicolored stained glass windows, a bold antique mirror, and banquettes made from leather and mohair velvet. Stained timber tables are paired with chairs detailed with burgundy leather and antique brass details.
Colicchio has also spearheaded the launch of the hotel’s new Bar Room, which is situated in the building’s nine-story atrium. Dark wood, velvet chairs, and vintage décor add intimacy and sophistication to the 76-seat venue.
