Glasgow-based design studio Graven has crafted two new VIP lounges at Anfield Stadium, home of the Liverpool Football Club. The Boardroom Lounge and the Executive Lounge are part of the stadium’s redeveloped Main Stand, which now accommodates up to 20,500 seats.
The Boardroom Lounge entrance draws inspiration from engraving of trophies as well as the tunnel of the Main Stand, where the players enter and exit the pitch, with a silver tunnel-like threshold outfitted with mirror and polished stainless steel engraved with the names of the team’s captains and championship victories. The sides of the lounge’s 12 window booths are clad with custom cast bronze badges to honor some of the team’s most iconic players.
Graven’s designs of the Executive Lounge reflect the architecture of Albert Dock and the local red brick terraced houses. Dark oak bricks are decorated with names of supporters and sponsors interspersed with original bricks from the Main Stand to create a flowing and irregular patterned wall display.
Bespoke pieces in both lounges reference Anfield and Liverpool fans with a dark gray linear patterned carpeting, inspired by Liverpool’s dockyard cranes and the architectural details of the original Main Stand from architect and engineer Archibald Leitch. A curated selection of artwork and memorabilia convey the team’s rich history and the city’s global status. The Executive Lounge includes a gallery of Liverpool’s industrial and local icons, while the Boardroom Lounge exhibits artwork depicting the city’s trade and shipping legacy alongside original and replica trophies.
