Sydney Silver and Homer Murray have partnered with chef Sean Telo for Brooklyn, New York eatery 21 Greenpoint, located at the site of former neighborhood eatery River Styx. To maintain beloved qualities of the previous restaurant, the owners’ frequent collaborator Kursten Bracchi renovated the new dining space along with film production designer Kris Moran.
A newly crafted bar greets guests with a large mirror spanning the entire back wall. A series of dining nooks layer the front dining room, creating a sense of intimacy. The enclaves are sectioned off from the bar area with partitions, which have been dressed in vintage wallpaper. The open kitchen gives diners a glimpse into the back of the house, which features a wood-burning pizza oven and a circular shelf displaying cookbooks, preserved vegetables, and firewood. Comfortable and convivial, the back dining space comprises three distinct areas including ground-floor seating, an open mezzanine, and a raised back room for larger groups.
