The Kiroro, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Hokkaido has unveiled its extensive renovation, completed by the property’s owners. The refurbishment is inspired by the surrounding natural environment, offering guests retreat amidst the alpine setting.
Natural materials define the Kiroro, Hokkaido’s design, which features stone, wood, and leather as well as regionally influenced hues and patterns. Splashes of color capture the mountains’ brown and white palette, while geometric patterns and artwork—both contemporary and indigenous—complement the airy layout of guestrooms and public spaces. The rustic lobby blends warm natural elements including fire, snow, and trees, accented by rich wooden textures and faux animal prints, while floor-to-ceiling windows offer mountain views.
The 282 guestrooms and suites convey a local architectural influence that embraces the scenic Japanese alpines. Accommodations also include artwork titled “Peace and Quiet,” inspired by the owl, which is long considered the guardian angel of the village in Ainu mythology.
Six dining options and a traditional Japanese onsen, or hot spring complete with open-air tubs, are also available.
