The Hotel at the University of Maryland is slated to open its doors this July, offering 297 guestrooms in College Park. The property will arrive in response to ongoing demand for a hotel and conference center in the area, and will serve as the first step toward transforming the neighborhood into one of the country’s top 20 college towns by 2020.
The 10-story hotel will offer 43,000 square feet of meeting space, including 18 meeting rooms, two boardrooms, and three ballrooms. Each of the spaces will be named for key figures in Maryland and university history, such as Orville and Wilbur Wright and Maryland’s first governor George Calvert.
Averaging 450 square feet, accommodations will include 21 studio suites, five one-bedroom suites, and three executive suites including a two-story presidential suite. A penthouse loft will be featured on the 10th floor.
Onsite F&B options will include the Old Maryland Grill; Bagels ‘n Grinds; Potomac Pizza; and Kapnos Taverna, led by chef Mike Isabella. A 150-seat lobby bar will open as well. The Red Door Salon & Spa by Elizabeth Arden will open on the hotel’s fourth floor, which will also house a fitness center, pool, and Zen garden.
