The Hewing Hotel, an Aparium Hotel Group property, has opened in Minneapolis’ Northern Loop neighborhood, housed within the city’s restored Jackson Building. The century-old, brick and timber warehouse now features a Scandinavian-influenced design from locally based Elness Swenson Graham (ESG) Architects, highlighting Minnesota’s Nordic heritage.
Leveraging the 124-room hotel’s rich history and character, the rustic design, complete with decorative accents and local artwork, takes advantage of the building’s existing interior architecture, with Nordic themes conveyed through custom wallcoverings and blankets. Amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, a rooftop venue outfitted with a pool and a bar.
Debuting with the hotel is Tullibee restaurant, named after Minnesota’s rarest fish. The concept, led by chef Grae Nonas, pays homage to the state’s forests and lakes, and embraces rural cooking traditions.
