Santa Monica, California-based Studio Collective is at work on the new Bungalow Huntington Beach lounge and the restoration of the Hotel Figueroa in Los Angeles.
The historic Hotel Figueroa flaunts architectural detailing reminiscent of its Spanish roots. The firm will infuse the circa-1926 property with new bespoke furnishings and artwork for some modern flair. Select suites will be included among the variety of room types in the rebranding of the hotel into a more boutique location for downtown Los Angeles. The historic lobby will receive a new residential-style look along with a new indoor-outdoor restaurant. Revamped as an overgrown urban garden, the ground-floor pool and a mezzanine bar are also included in the redesign, which will debut later this year.

For the Bungalow second location, Studio Collective has envisioned a clean and eclectic atmosphere reveling in views of the Pacific Coast Highway and the Huntington Beach Pier. The firm has joined forces with entrepreneur Brent Bolthouse to channel midcentury artist and designer Ray Eames for the forthcoming lounge’s new look. Naturally oiled woods, painted white brick, and an overall neutral tone will define the aesthetic, also inspired by California surf culture. The midcentury décor will be complemented by an array of seating enclaves, from custom leather sofas to upholstered club chairs, as well as a private dining room. Merging the interior and exterior, the lounge will also include a large deck with ocean views and a bar.
