Portobello Road Gin has launched four-floor venue the Distillery in London’s Notting Hill district, home to two bars, a museum, an off-license shop, a gin-making experience, and three boutique guestrooms overlooking Portobello Road, as well as the brand’s distillery.
Guests are greeted on the ground floor with the Resting Room, a classic bar offering a selection of spirits aged in handmade barrels suspended above the bar from which they are served. The next level hosts the GinTonica, a Spanish-style bar and kitchen with Mediterranean décor that pays homage to Spain’s affinity for juniper, serving an array of gin and tonic variations. The top floor is home to the Boardroom, a private dining space equipped with its own bar. The Boardroom shares the top level with the three guestrooms, each of which has been individually designed by one of Portobello Road Gin’s founding directors and infused with varying eclectic, and culturally inspired character. In addition to special minibars, guestrooms include handmade record players with vinyl playlists curated by locally based Rough Trade Records.
Iconic London gin-making experience the Ginstitute, having relocated from its previous home, is also located onsite, along with a museum of artifacts—including the first-ever English cocktail book—and a liquor store.
The Distillery is the latest F&B outpost in the brand’s portfolio. Portobello Road’s sister company Leelex has spearheaded Mexican dining concept Cielo Blanco in London and Leeds, where renowned venues Jakes Bar & Still Room and the Pintura Basque Kitchen & Bar are also located.
