The Kimpton Carlyle Hotel Dupont Circle in Washington, DC has debuted its Oka Doner suite, designed by and named for artist Michele Oka Doner who also led the hotel’s recent renovation and redesign. The oversized suite exudes an artful elegance and residential charm of the Art Deco neighborhood landmark.
The three-room, 900-square-foot suite features streamlined geometry and a soothing, neutral palette. Corner Art Deco windows offer views of the Washington Monument and the city’s skyline. Gray carpeting spans the suite, echoing patterns featured in Oka Doner’s art.
The suite also includes three bathrooms and a private hallway. Evoking tranquility, the design is outfitted with polished fixtures and organic shapes. Both the living area and two bedrooms are outfitted with custom furnishings, including a reading chair, an oversized coffee table, a gray sectional chaise lounge, and a king bed and royal blue sofa in each bedroom.
Signature artwork from Doner is also featured, such as Cosmic I & II, which presents energetic celestial forms in shimmering gold. The work’s rich texture and palette plays against the cool sophistication of the interior yet echoes many elements from the carpet to the golden curtains.
