The Oceans Edge Key West Hotel & Marina has arrived along a nearly mile-long stretch of oceanfront land, on 20 lanscaped acres in Stock Island Key West. The property is Key West’s largest hotel on all the seven islands, and the only property with onsite marina access. The hotel’s interior design and conch-style architecture are inspired by the island’s colorful community.
Traditional teak and holly flooring spans the lobby, recalling one of the historic schooners docked at the marina, while large-scale modern artwork further enhances the arrival experience, and West Indies-style caned sofas and custom wood rocking chairs are installed on the lobby’s front porch.
“We strived to tell a modern interpretation of Key West through some of the statement décor pieces found in each guestroom that act as a nod to some of the precious cargo that would have decorated the homes of some of the area’s most successful wrecking families,” says the property’s design leader Ann Johnson, who is also the wife of the project’s developer Pritam Singh, president of the Singh Company. “From Chinese porcelain to colonial furniture, oil paintings and exotic fabrics, every thoughtful detail holds authenticity to the destination.”
Three-story residential-style structures span the property, where the accommodations include decorative archways, reclaimed ship wood, clapboard exteriors, and open breezeways to capture the beauty of indoor-outdoor living. All 175 guestrooms reflect a marriage of modern and classic motifs with a locally influenced palette of cobalt, ivory, and green accents to harmonize with ocean views. Ocean blue carpeting and woven wicker and white lacquer elements complement signature artwork from artists Lynne Fischer, Adam Russell, and Dawn Wilkins in guestrooms, while the larger suites offer separate sitting areas and an oversized wet bar.
Indoor-outdoor restaurant Yellow Fin Bar & Grille reflects Stock Island’s industrial neighborhood aesthetic, with elements of steel and salt-brined wood featured along with a large communal table. A sweeping custom mural from artist Elkpen serves as the backdrop of the main bar.
Six swimming pools are offered onsite, also the most of any Key West hotel. The limestone pool decks are adorned with Italian terracotta chaise lounges as well as pergola-topped lounge spaces and sun pods.
