The Wailea Beach Resort – Marriott, Maui has unveiled its extensive $100 million redesign from Looney & Associates’ Honolulu office, drawing influence from the iconic Wailea Beach and the sea’s restorative energy.
The reimagined arrival experience, set against the backdrop of the ocean, includes an open-air layout with towering ceilings and intimate seating areas. The 491 redesigned guestrooms and 56 suites feature contemporary residential-style layouts that evoke comfort. In addition to updated furnishings and technology, each room is equipped with a lanai. The 62 ground-floor guestrooms feature extended lanais, establishing a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. Select guestrooms are located just steps from the ocean.
Six new dining concepts have debuted with the redesign. The Humble Market Kitchin by Roy Yamaguchi, complete with panoramic ocean views, features an indoor-outdoor design influenced by the natural elements of the locale. The poolside Kapa Bar & Grill is a vibrant bar and lounge outfitted with gaming options and locally inspired cuisine, while the casual, beach bar Whale’s Tale is located steps from the water. The Mo Bettah Food Truck and the NALU Pool Bar are also available with grab-and-go options.
Three new pool environments include the two-acre Nalu Adventure pool complex, which is outfitted with four waterslides, a dive pool, and other playful elements. The adults-only Maluhia Serenity infinity edge pool offers private over-water cabanas, casabellas for two, and chaise lounges. Two oceanfront ‘Ohi infinity edge pools are ideal for whalewatching.
The Wailea Beach Resort also houses more than 100,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor event space, all of which maximizes the oceanfront setting. The sophisticated Makai oceanview ballroom is new to the property, while the new Luau Gardens hosts cultural programming.
