Karl Lagerfeld, head designer and creative director for Chanel and Fendi, has signed a long-term licensing deal with Amsterdam-based Brandmark Collective to build his new international hospitality brand Karl Lagerfeld Hotels & Resorts. The first Lagerfeld hospitality project under the new banner—a 20-story, 6-Star hotel in Macau—will debut in 2017. Earlier this year, Lagerfeld was also tapped for his first U.S. project, the lobbies at the Estates at Acqualina, a luxury Miami residential complex.
“Expanding our brand into the hospitality sector reflects our greater vision to broaden Karl Lagerfeld’s comprehensive lifestyle experience,” says Pier Paolo Righi, CEO and President of Karl Lagerfeld.
“We inherently understand the unique needs of hospitality owners and developers,” adds Brandmark Collective CEO Tony Kurz, “and will collectively deliver the Karl Lagerfeld brand offering in a way that celebrates the designer’s unique talent and approach to fashion and lifestyle.”
Lagerfeld’s previous design work includes condominium lobbies in Toronto, two suites at the Hôtel de Crillon Paris, the Sofitel Hotel in Singapore, and the Odyssey-inspired swimming pool and al fresco eatery at the Hotel Metropole in Monte-Carlo.
