Mandarin Oriental’s European flagship, the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, will undergo a multimillion-dollar restoration slated for completion in 2018. It will remain open throughout.
London- and Hong Kong-based designer Joyce Wang, who oversaw the recent renovation of the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, will spearhead the interior revamp, drawing inspiration from the property’s royal heritage and serene parkside setting, along with the early 1900s glamour of the Golden Age of Travel. All 181 guestrooms and suites will be outfitted with luxurious details honoring the structure’s Edwardian roots as well as Hyde Park’s natural beauty and Art Deco-style décor, including curated artwork and custom furniture creating an inviting setting. Two new penthouse suites will be equipped with private terraces and expansive park views.
New York-based Adam D. Tihany will lead the design of the Spa at Mandarin Oriental, London, which will be crafted in keeping with the newly installed pool and fitness area. The venue will be expanded to house couples’ facilities and exclusive treatment concepts.
The hotel’s entrance, lobby, and reception will be reconfigured and designed to maximize natural light and the property’s iconic façade will be revitalized, while the F&B venues, ballroom, and meeting spaces will also receive soft upgrades.
