The JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach has arrived in the Marina Bay district, marking the brand’s entry in the city-state. Boasting interiors from Philippe Starck and architecture from Foster + Partners, the 634-room hotel features a multimillion-dollar collection of more than 30 artworks sourced locally and internationally.
Welcoming guests is a 23-foot video wall installation from South Korean artist Lee Lee Nam that uses LED monitors to translate artistic imagery through movement. A lobby sculpture from Fernando Botero and a reclaimed scrap metal piece from Iain Nutting are also featured, along with graffiti artwork from Milanese art and design duo Carnovsky and expressive custom wallpaper in guest elevators.
The lobby offers the Concierge Library and the Activity Table, which hosts cultural programming such as cheese and wine tastings. An outdoor infinity pool, sky garden, and 24-hour fitness center are housed onsite along with more than 18,400 square feet of indoor-outdoor event and meeting space including 15 meeting rooms and the nearly 5,600-sqaure-foot Grand Ballroom located within the historic circa-1930s Drill Hall. The ballroom also boasts an 11,520-light Forest of Lights designed by Starck.
The Spa by JW will open in the second quarter of 2017, housing 10 treatment rooms and two private and express treatment suites.
