Sonoma County, California’s Graton Resort & Casino has unveiled its $175 million, 342,000-square-foot expansion. Designed by Las Vegas-based Friedmutter Group, the addition includes a 200-room hotel, spa, meeting and convention space, and an outdoor resort-style pool area.
The design of the six-story property reflects Sonoma’s rolling hills with graceful curves and natural colors. The lobby evokes a casual California opulence with organic materials and natural tones that nod to the area’s topography and lush landscape. Along with contemporary wall art, large floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the central resort-style pool, while the lobby bar serves as a chic social hub with comfortable seating.
The resort pool is an extension of the lobby and bar area, providing an indoor-outdoor connection. The 30,000-square-foot deck surrounds the 7,000-square-foot pool and showcases a modern, bright cream pattern of tan lines offset by inset squares of velvet grass turf.
In the corridors, dark chocolate and cream colors are punctuated with oversized modern artwork inspired by local flora. The casual yet elegant guestrooms and suites range in size from 500 to 2,600 square feet and feature a monochromatic color palette with vivid accent colors that channel local botanicals. Rich dark wood frames doors and casegoods, and California’s craftsman style is reflected in the built-in headboards and cream-tufted faux leather wall panels, which juxtaposes with polished stainless steel framing. The focal point is a bold, large-scaled floral art piece above the bed that adds a splash of California poppy orange. Accent pillows, bed throws, and shams offer texture and color with rich taupe and burnt orange.
The 2,000 square feet of meeting and convention space is inspired by nature with colors and materials that reflect the local landscape. In addition, the 10,000-square-foot spa includes slatted wood floors, cream-colored marble, and frosted glass.
