Set on 20 waterfront acres along Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay, the Inn at Herrington Harbour has launched its new wing of suites and expansive gardens at its Inn at Herrington Harbour South facility. The two-story, 22-suite sojourn features rooms with an Arts and Crafts-style design by Philadelphia-based DAS Architects. Combined with the Herrington Harbour North building, the property is the largest marina complex on the East Coast, accommodating 2,400 boats onsite and offering meeting space, dining options, wedding venues, and a beachfront area.
Reminiscent of a European village, new guestrooms are punctuated with rich hardwood floors, custom wood cabinetry, soaring windows overlooking the bay, and large outdoor porches. Distinct antique furnishings further amplify the classic ambiance.
The expansive new East Gardens comprise four acres between the water and the inn, with indigenous flowers, plants, and trees. Handcrafted wooden gates have been installed at the garden’s main entrance, leading to stone pathways and a covered pavilion floating above a bioretention area that is also home to a monarch butterfly habitat, a wedding tent, and a sprawling ceremonial lawn. Elegant lighting brings the setting to life at night, while fountains, sculptures, and benches welcome guests to take in stunning views and native wildlife.
DAS is also collaborating with the inn’s owners on an upcoming restaurant renovation, slated for completion in the spring of 2017.
