The Stafford London hotel’s historic Carriage House suites will undergo a redesign by New York-based Champalimaud Design, which will infuse a contemporary twist on traditional English furnishings in the 13 guestrooms, including the split-level Guv’nors suite. The new suites are slated to debut in spring 2017.
Formerly stables, the Carriage House is located in the property’s Blue Ball Yard. Suites still maintain their original stable doors and feature the names of famous horses once sheltered there. The redesign will honor the Stafford’s quintessential legacy, with timeless elements translated through a modern lens. Champalimaud will also craft a two-bedroom, multilevel townhouse, bookable as a one-bedroom junior suite, a two-story suite with a dining area, or as the full three-level townhouse.
“The Stafford is a quintessentially British hotel, with local charm and character that draws its guests time and time again,” says president and principal designer Alexandra Champalimaud. “We approached the guestroom redesign with the intention of crafting welcoming, modern spaces, with subtle nods to its storied past, to ensure travelers feel as if they were in their own private residence in the heart of London.”
