Minor Hotels, parent company of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, has announced the development of the Anantara Zanzibar Resort, which is slated to debut in 2020 as part of the mixed-use lifestyle community Zanzibar Amber Resort.
Spanning more than 2,470 acres of Indian Ocean coastline, the resort will include 100 guestrooms as well as 50 one- and two-bedroom pool villas. In addition to three restaurants and bars, leisure facilities include a luxury spa and wellness center, a gym, a kids’ club, and a teens’ clubs. There are also plans to introduce marine life and coral to restore and recreate a reef ecosystem.
Guests will enjoy access to the Zanzibar Amber Resort’s facilities including a retail souk, tropical water park, marina, equestrian center, international polo club, and additional hotels. The mixed-used complex will also be home to East Africa’s first signature Ernie Els-designed golf course. Sustainability will be emphasized with the use of energy plants, agriculture, aquaculture, and a tentatively planned airfield.
Anantara currently operates 37 hotels and resorts in 12 countries, recently unveiling four resorts across Sri Lanka and Oman.
