Aman has announced the fall 2017 opening of Amanyangyun, a resort located in a forest village just outside of Shanghai. The brand’s fourth Chinese outpost will comprise 50 houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties transported 400 miles from the eastern Jiangxi Province.
The 50 homes were reconstructed to recreate 26 ancient dwellings clad with ornate carvings and reliefs that detail family histories. The centerpiece is Nan Shufang, named for the royal reading pavilion in the Forbidden City, and will be located in a serene garden and curated as a space for contemplation, learning, and discourse.
Thirteen of the homes will include four bedrooms with pools, while 24 contemporary one-bedroom club suites are seamlessly spread throughout the property. Designed by Singapore- and Australian-based firm Kerry Hill Architects, the resort’s antique villas and club suites will feature a restful, earthy palette with interiors finished in wood, stone, and bamboo. Featuring fireplaces and courtyards, the accommodations will reflect Aman’s signature light-filled minimalism.
Included among Amanyangyun’s six F&B concepts will be an all-day dining pavilion; Aman Deli Village Shop; a Chinese restaurant with seven private dining rooms; Club Lounge; Lakeside Café; and a 200-seat banquet hall. The Aman Spa will house spacious treatment rooms, extensive thermal facilities, two swimming pools, a fitness center, and a yoga and Pilates studio that overlooks a reflection pond.
