Currently operating 12 hotels in the area, Starwood Hotels & Resorts will increase its specialty select brands — Aloft, Element, and Four Points — by more than 80 percent in New York by 2018. The number will grow from 12 to 22, with most of the development centered in the New York metropolitan area.
Recent and upcoming openings include Four Points New York Downtown, which has already opened; Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor, Four Points Manhattan Hudson Yards, Aloft Long Island City, and Aloft New York LaGuardia Airport to debut this year; Aloft New York Midtown coming in 2017; and Aloft New York Hudson Yards, Four Points Flushing, Element Syracuse Inner Harbor, and Element Spring Valley planned for 2018.
“As Starwood’s global pipeline driver, Aloft, Element, and Four Points have never been stronger, and are rapidly expanding across New York, due to the success of the brands’ distinct lifestyle positioning and widespread appeal among today’s international traveler,” says Brian McGuinness, Starwood’s global brand leader, specialty select brands.
The new properties will join Starwood’s specialty select portfolio of more than 300 hotels worldwide. The Four Points brand is currently the fastest growing, with more than 200 properties, while Aloft boasts 100 hotels, and the Element portfolio will double in the next three years.
