Pod Hotels will debut in Washington, DC with the construction of Pod DC, developed by Modus Hotels and slated to open next fall.
Located in the city’s Penn Quarter neighborhood near the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian museums, the 245-room hotel will follow a model similar to BD Hotels’ Pod 51 and Pod 39 in New York (launched in 2007 and 2012, respectively) with an emphasis on communal spaces.
“The expansion of Pod Hotels to DC is a symbol of the broad appeal of our micro-hotel concept,” says BD Hotels principal Richard Born. “We expect Pod DC to attract a similar type of traveler to those who visit our New York properties: individuals from all over the U.S., Europe, Asia, and South America, ranging in age from 18 to 85, who are looking for an affordable, stylish hotel that allows them to easily explore a destination and meet others with similar passions in the property’s communal spaces. We look forward to collaborating with Modus Hotels to bring the hotel to life.”
Pod DC’s guestrooms will feature beds with built-in storage, high-tech amenities, tiled bathrooms with barn doors, rain showerheads, and eco-friendly bath products.
The hotel’s approximately 12,000 square feet of public spaces will include a full service bar, restaurant, rooftop lounge, and community workspace.
