In partnership with Vastint Hospitality and Nordic Hospitality, Marriott International has announced plans to open five Moxy Hotels in Europe this year—in Munich, Eschborn, and Berlin in Germany; Oslo, Norway; and Aberdeen in the UK. The properties follow the successful launch of the first Moxy Hotel in Milan in September 2014.
“This is an exciting and pivotal moment for the Moxy brand as we move into the second phase of development with five new hotel openings this year and nine more expected in 2017,” says Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International, Europe. “This is just the beginning of a sensational journey for Moxy in Europe.”
The Moxy Munich Airport features 252 guestrooms, and is located five minutes from the main terminal; the Moxy Eschborn has 176 guestrooms, and is located near downtown Frankfurt; Moxy Berlin Ostbahnhof has 210 rooms, and is a five minute walk from the Ostbahnhof train station; the Moxy Oslo Exporama has 276 guestrooms, and is located near the Exporama convention center; and the Moxy Aberdeen Airport has 200 rooms, and is located seven minutes from the main terminal.
The design aesthetic will reflect the ethos of the brand, and the personality of the local area. Each hotel will include a lounge, self-service grab and go, library, and photo booth elevators.
In addition to the five European openings, the first two Moxy properties will open in the U.S. in 2016—in Tempe, Arizona, this month, and New Orleans in April.
