InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of the first Kimpton hotel outside the Americas. Located in Amsterdam, the hotel currently operates as the Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City Centre, which will undergo a full renovation, and will reopen as a 270-room Kimpton in 2017.
IHG acquired Kimpton in January 2015.
“IHG’s ability to take Kimpton to new markets and geographies was a key part of the transaction and we’re delighted to announce this important milestone for the brand,” says Richard Solomons, CEO of IHG.
The hotel is owned by YC Amsterdam BV, a venture established by affiliates of York Capital Management. True to Kimpton’s other properties, the hotel in Amsterdam features boldly designed boutique guestrooms, along with a destination bar and restaurant, a gym, and innovative meeting spaces.
There are 59 managed Kimpton hotels currently in the U.S. representing 10,700 rooms, as well as 74 restaurants and bars. In addition, there are 16 Kimpton properties currently in development.
