Los Angeles-based Indidesign has been selected to renovate the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago.
Spearheaded by the firm’s co-founder and design director, Beatrice Girelli, the refresh includes the property’s public spaces, which will reveal original features hidden by past renovations.
The new design will take inspiration from the hotel’s Prohibition-era roots, showcasing Art Deco motifs throughout the lobby, lounge, and restaurant. Inspired by flapper jewelry, a custom chandelier will hang in the lobby’s entryway, while original stuccos will be painted white to create a light, airy atmosphere complemented by deep hues of blue, rust, and gold. Curated art pieces will also be on display in the lobby.
Amenities will include a newly redesigned lobby bar, restaurant, and a British club-inspired lounge that connects to the lobby and features tufted leather couches, club seating, and a wooden pool table set within dark wood flooring and built-in bookcases.
The refreshed Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago is expected to open between late 2015 and early 2016.
