Commune Hotels & Resorts has added Alila Hotels and Resorts to its portfolio of boutique hotel brands.
Joining Thompson Hotels, Joie de Vivre Hotels, and tommie, Alila Hotels and Resorts is the company’s fourth hotel brand. Each Alila property will retain its name.
“I’m thrilled to welcome the Alila team to the family,” says Commune CEO Niki Leondakis. “Through our partnership this past year, we quickly discovered that our company cultures and values are very well aligned. Asia is an incredibly influential and promising travel market with tremendous growth potential for Commune; Alila has a strong foothold in the region and offers significant opportunity for Commune’s existing hotels and future development internationally.”
In 2014, Geolo Capital, the private equity firm that owns Commune, acquired a majority interest in Alila, and the two will now form a fully integrated model with wider exposure and international distribution. Commune will make Alila’s corporate Singapore office its new Asia region headquarters.
Previously CEO of Alila, Frederic Flageat-Simon will serve as CEO Asia of Commune Hotels & Resorts. He will be responsible for growing the Commune brands in Asia, Australia, and the Middle East; overseeing the Singapore-based executive team; and managing the Asia Commune portfolio.
“The value of the two companies together is greater than two separate entities,” says Flageat-Simon. “The combination of Alila’s footprint and experience in Asia, combined with the infrastructure, resources, and global reputation of Commune will mean a winning guest experience for more people around the world, and a global management and distribution platform for our owners.”
