Boston-based CBT has been appointed for the interior renovation of Hotel Chicago.
The revamp of the 354-room hotel will include its lobby, exterior entry and signage, public spaces, restaurant, meeting rooms, and guestrooms.
Chicago’s cityscape will serve as the inspiration for CBT’s redesign, which will include two concierge pods with curved forms referencing the nearby Marina Towers and contemporary suspended LED light fixtures with glass rods. Recessed lighting and linear diffusers will illuminate the reflective lobby ceiling and increase height perception—similar to the effect of skyscrapers.
“The architecturally significant colors in monochromatic tones of black, white, and gray throughout represent Chicago’s history and connection to the Art Deco period,” says CBT principal Jacqueline McGee. “Our team combined beautiful materials with detailed lighting inspired by the local urban culture to create the unexpected. It has been an amazing opportunity to reinvent one of the iconic Chicago hotels to reflect the transformational and dynamic history of the city.”
