Disruptive Restaurant Group (DRG) has debuted as a culinary development and management company under sbe. The Los Angeles-based group will assist other hotels and developers with building new restaurant concepts and expanding brands. DRG is expected to take the reins of the sbe’s restaurant division, assuming control of acclaimed brands such as Katsuya, the Bazaar by José Andrés, Umami Burger, Cleo, and Hyde Kitchen + Cocktails. Sbe’s restaurant brands boasted $160 million in gross revenue during 2015.
John Kolaski will serve as president of DRG, overseeing 50 current and upcoming properties. He previously held the title of president of restaurants for sbe. Brand expansion efforts will emphasize the strengthening relationships with global partners such as M.H. Alshaya, MGM, and AEG. Sbe founder and CEO Sam Nazarian also envisions the growth of DRG’s concepts by collaborating with chef partners and designers.
DRG’s portfolio includes locations across the U.S. as well as international properties in Dubai, Kuwait, Cairo, and Qatar, among others.
