Buenos Aires' Recoleta District Unveils New Luxe Algodon Mansion

Dec 2, 2009

By Donna M. Airoldi

Ideal for high-end executive retreats or as a treat for a top performer, the Algodon Mansion opens next month in Buenos Aires, Argentina, joining other top luxury properties (including Alvear Palace and the Park Hyatt's Palacio Duhau) in the city's tony Recoleta neighborhood.

The exclusive Algodon, with just 10 suites, was built in 1912 as a private residence featuring French Classical design, and is a landmarked property. The new guestrooms, some exceeding 1,200 square feet, will include Italian marble baths, B&B Italia and Capelinni furniture, and 24-hour butler and concierge service. A baby grand piano will grace some of the larger suites.

Companies looking for extreme privacy or exclusivity can bu yout the entire mansion. Guests will be able to indulge themselves at the fine-dining restaurant Chez Nous, serving Argentine and French-fusion cuisines; the Cognac Bar; the covered outside patio and fireplace; and at Algodon's rooftop pool, sauna, bar, and spa.

Wow factor: A four-story waterfall will stretch from the roof to the ground floor lobby and can be viewed from nearly every suite.

Tip: Be sure to sample the wine, which includes award-winning bottles from the hotel's sister project, Algodon Wine Estates, in Mendoza, "the Napa Valley of Argentina." The winery also offers a barrel ownership program, worth considering for corporate gifts. Read more about that product option here.
