Renovated Radisson Blu Hotel Hits Hamburg

Oct 12, 2009

radisson blu hamburg
Radisson Blue Hotel, Hamburg in Germany has reopened following a complete renovation. The property—the city's largest—comprises three towers, which have been refaced with 10,000 granite slabs from southern Germany and soundproof double-glazed windows.

Upgraded spaces, courtesy of Swedish architect Christian Lundwall, start with the lobby, characterized by white floor tiles, shiny black walls, reception desks with dramatic underlighting, patterned rugs, gold armchairs, and original Arne Jacobsen Egg chairs.

The hotel's 556 guestrooms and suites come in three different styles: "Natural," showcasing light color palettes, beech wood furniture, and lots of glass; "Urban," featuring oak furniture, Amtico design flooring in warm brown tones, and dark curtains; and "New York Mansion," whose Turkish rugs, black-tiled floor, opulent rosewood furniture, and silver wardrobe create a stylish lounge ambiance.

In the new and existing meeting rooms, Lundwall incorporated designer furniture by Le Corbusier, Arne Jacobsen, Walter Knoll, and Designers Guild. Other function space includes a conference floor measuring nearly 23,000 square feet that contains 12 multifunctional rooms, as well as a 5,700-square-foot divisible ballroom and foyer area. Dining concepts include Filini and Trader Vic's & Mai Tai Bar, designed with authentic Tiki figures, collectors' items, and handmade art to evoke the South Seas.
