Kimpton's Hotel Vintage Plaza in Portland, Oregon has wrapped up its $4 million makeover with the help of Susan Caruso of hospitality design firm IntraSpec in Marina del Ray, California, and locally based Sienna Architecture. The 117-room boutique hotel, situated in a historic brick building, features a design inspired by the area's organic beauty and surrounding vineyards.
The warm, earth-toned lobby greets guests with the organic colors and textures of outdoors. Dark wood, creamy leathers, sheer roman shades, and pewter accents mix with cream- and cocoa-toned wallcoverings inspired by tree bark. Each guestroom, outfitted in a palette of chocolate, cream, white, and olive and anchored by persimmon leather headboards, delivers its own personality; many rooms are named after celebrated Oregon wineries and house a piece of art or some special element that ties back to its namesake winery.
