Commercial flooring manufacturer Roppe Corporation has introduced a rubber products recycling program called IMPACT. At the end of a rubber floor's lifecycle, building owners can gather the products at the job site and return them to Roppe's recycling partner. The recycler then turns those products into new uses, including landscaping mulches, playground surfacing, and rubber crumb for athletic fields.
"Many of our contractor partners have expressed that the process will ultimately end up being cost neutral when considering the cost to landfill the products versus shipping them to our recycling partner," says Dee Dee Brickner, Roppe's marketing coordinator. "They also stated that...Roppe's rubber recycling process on the job site will eventually become a standard practice among contractors."
