The historic Park Plaza Hotel, Tallahassee's only boutique hotel, has completed a $10 million renovation in downtown Tallahassee, where it's reopened as Hotel Duval.
Built 58 years ago, the 177-room hotel was purchased in 2007, at which point it commenced its transformation, which included the addition of an entire new floor. The hotel previously had seven stories but now has eight thanks to a new eighth floor that's home to a new lounge and 2,700 square feet of new rooftop meeting space.
The two-year renovation also included lobby-level updates, including the addition of a new on-site restaurant, and guest room improvements, which included the addition of a new "Interactive Customer Experience," an in-room concierge service with a touch-screen terminal that guests can use to make dinner reservations, retrieve a valet-parked vehicle, etc.
"We hope that we are setting the bar high and in the process we are really legitimizing downtown Tallahassee and the vision of the 18-hour downtown," General Manager Marc Bauer told local newspaper the Tallahassee Democrat.
