Tropicana's $2.5 billion renovation has been delayed until 2008 at the earliest due to global credit crunches and rising construction costs. There are also pending labor negotiations with local culinary local and bartenders unions, but a spokesman for Tropicana's owner, Columbia Sussex, says the negotiation issues are not the reason for the delay.
Expansion plans include a five-tower, 10,000-room development, an increase of more than 8,000 guestrooms over the current inventory.
In another story, GlobeSt.com reports that contractors are pricing the project and will provide cost estimates in October, according to Columbia Sussex president William Yung.
