Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel is making its debut this week. Rising 30 stories, the sparkling glass-and-steel structure houses 1,190 guestrooms featuring expansive windows with bay and city views, a spa, 165,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, a saltwater swimming pool located directly alongside San Diego Bay, and three dining options. About $2 million worth of public art, which plays off of Hilton's waterfront location, graces the hotel’s walls, grounds, and public spaces.
Hirsch Bender Associates San Francisco (HBA) oversaw the interior design. John Portman & Associates of Atlanta was the architect responsible for the public spaces and the exterior, while San Diego-based Joseph Wong Design Associates (JWDA) handled the tower portion of the project. Landscape architects Sasaki Associates of San Francisco designed the hotel's four-plus acre park and waterfront promenade.
