Building and design professionals in Florida who are interested in sustainable design are in luck. On June 10 to 12, 2009, the Florida Green Building Coalition will host the GreenTrends 2009 conference at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront Hotel. Headlining the event are keynote speakers St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker, who chairs Sustainable Florida's Century Commission, and Michele Russo, green content and research director for McGraw-Hill Construction.
The conference will cover a variety of timely topics, ranging from choosing the right certification program to building energy- and water-efficient homes to greening your business. Presenters include Jennifer Languell, star of the Discovery Channel's Project Earth series; Trisha Riley, author of the Complete Idiot's Guide to Green Living and Complete Idiot's Guide to Greening Your Business; and Jerry Paul, of the National Academy of Sciences.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about becoming a green building certifier, tour a new zero-energy home and get tips on writing a successful green grant application.
