Fairmont Royal York Hotel Makes Good on Green Promise

Over the past year, the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto has launched a series of green initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint. Among the eco-friendly steps the hotel has taken:

- Check-in computers that run on wind power
- An Eco-Meet program, a brand-wide initiative that encourages waste diversion and environmental awareness
- Motion detectors in every meeting room
- Candlelight-only dining every Saturday night in the Library Bar
- The use of energy-efficient lights throughout the property
- Diversion of 68 percent of waste to the landfill
- Energy- and water-efficient dishwashers and washing machines
